Captain Cho Bongyeon died Apr. 5, 1971 in Phu Cat, Thai Phu(BR 947533), from wounds caused by a booby trap explosion on a guard action of roads. He was awarded the Order of Military Merit Hwarang. He was buried at 03-5-250 graveyard in Seoul National Cemetry.
